A boundary survey requires that all of the property corners on the lot be found or set and like a house location or mortgage survey shows the relationship of any and all structures on the lot to the property lines. This type of survey is required in the state of Virginia for any parcel that exceeds two acres in area in the counties of Prince William, Fairfax, Loudoun, Arlington, Stafford, and Spotsylvania; the cities of Fairfax, Leesburg, Falls Church, Alexandria, and Fredericksburg; as well as the towns of Dumfries, Haymarket, Herndon, Purcelville, Remington, and Clifton.
